THE REVIEW

This is by far the best OST of Guilty Gear there is available, however all OST’s released are good. This is a two disc Ost that has all the songs featured in the game Guilty Gear XX The Midnight Carnival Ps2 game. I love Guilty Gear music to the limit and have been listening to it since the start of the Guilty Gear series. I can still remember the first two tracks that I ever listened to. They were Holy Orders (Be Just or Be Dead) and Suck a Sage.

You may wonder what differences there is in the Guilty Gear X and X2 Osts because the first Disc contains most of the songs that were featured in the GGX Ost but I tell you that there is a big change in the tracks. For Example in the Guilty Gear X version of Holy Orders the song started with a mini intro (which is heard in every version of Holy Orders) but in the Guilty Gear and Guilty Gear X versions the intro was played with an Organ. In the GGX2 version the song started with a Harpsichord.

The tracks in the Guilty Gear X2 versions are also edited to be strictly under four minutes long because in the Guilty Gear X version tracks went on a lot longer that they were supposed to.

Examples of these are Awe of She which was 4:48 minutes, Bloodstained Linage which was 4:57 minutes and finally Feel the Fear which was 4:36 minutes. However in the GGX2 versions Awe of She is only 3:08 minutes, Bloodstained linage is only 3:24 minutes and Feel the Fear is only 3:05 minutes.

THE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE MUSIC

The music has evolved since the Original Guilty Gear Soundtrack this is mainly seen in the drumming. To be totally honest although I loved the original Guilty Gear game Soundtrack the drumming was a little primitive. I say this because the melody in Guilty Gear has always been excellent but when I was identifying the parts amongst each other I noticed that the drum beats were simple compared to the Guilty Gear X2 version. An example of where this is heard is in Holy Orders.

THE GUILTY GEAR XX/X2 SOLO’S

Virtually every Guilty Gear Song has a in the mid section of it. Guilty Gear solos are truly elegant and give the song a good flare. In Guilty Gear XX the solos are excellent. These are heard in Good Manners and Good Customs, Haven’t you got eyes at the back of your Head and Noontide.

EVALUATION

This Ost receives a definite 9.5/10. I did not give the soundtrack a 10/10 because the bass line did not move me as much as the rest of the other features in the soundtrack. If you want to get the Soundtrack for cheap then head to www.ebay.com which have great deals on Guilty Gear generally.
